Enjoy the unique cuisine of the various countries and people that make up the Middle East.  During this 2.5 hour hands-on cooking class, learn a range of fragrant, unique and delicious dishes from across the Middle East.  

Learn the methods of creating this incredible cuisine, from scratch and turn your next dinner party or family BBQ into a festive and multicultural affair!

The Chef will take you through the preparation of the various dishes, step by step as you work together to cook up a feast before sitting down as a group to enjoy your creations over a couple glasses of beer or wine. 

The interesting and aromatic menu includes

Chicken Machboos 
Machboos is the national delicacy of Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait and is also popular in other countries such as Saudi Arabia and UAE. This dish includes rice and meat as the main ingredients and is slow-cooked with spices to give it a unique and aromatic flavour. 

Lamb Koobideh 
Persian dish named after the style in which the meat is prepared. Traditionally, the meat was placed on a flat stone and smashed with a wooden mallet. It is cooked on a seekh which is Persian for 'skewer'.

Mashuai 
A traditional fish specialty made with the fish found abundant in the coastal waters of Oman by barbecuing a whole fish which has been rubbed with oil and typically flavoured with spices including cumin, ground coriander seeds, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, and salt.

  • This is a hands on, interactive and informative class where you will actively prepare the above dishes. 
  • The duration of this class is generally 2.5 hours (depending on how full the class is).
  • At Sydney Cooking School we offer Small group sizes, friendly & experienced chefs and a fun & fresh learning environment!
  • Feel free and welcome to ask our personable and approachable chef any questions you may have!
  • This class is taught upstairs in our Purple kitchen and BBQ area, with state of the art appliances and equipment.
  • We provide aprons for use while you are cooking, unique ingredients, amazing food to eat, drinking water and a wine or beer to enjoy with your meal.
  • Sydney Cooking School is a fun, relaxed and professionally delivered learning environment. Our chef is passionate about sharing his enormous wealth of information about this cuisine to inspire you to prepare these dishes at home.
  • We always use fresh, top quality and specially sourced ingredients. 
  • We can cater for common dietary requirements when advised in advance. Please note this on your booking.

  • This 2.5 hour class and dining experience is typically held various weeknight evenings from 6:30pm and Saturday at 10:30am throughout the year for up to 10-14 guests.

  • Children between the ages of 10 -17 are eligible to attend provided they are booked in together with a participating Parent/Guardian over the age of 18 at a ratio of 1:1.
